Philadelphia is no stranger to street artists, both famous and infamous, especially when it comes to mosaics. Take a stroll through South Philadelphia and you’re sure to come across a number of works by local legend Isaiah Zagar. But it looks like there’s a new face in town – Chicago mosaic street artist (and foe of potholes nationwide) Jim Bachor has arrived! We’ve posted about Bachor and his vigilance against city potholes twice before, and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down any time soon.
Philadelphia-based artist-to-community program HAHA x Paradigm took it upon themselves to bring Bachor to Philly so he could share his unique mosaic talent with our great city. Being a city obsessed with food (and eating lots of it), it seems fitting that Bachor chose candy bars and sugary drinks as the subject matter of these new mosaics. Or maybe it’s a commentary on our city’s litter problem?
I love seeing the city I call home become increasingly covered with art. I love Bachor’s work and I hope to see more of it spread throughout the world.
